Privacy policy

This explains what we collect when you ask us for a quote, why we collect it, and what we do and don't do with it. It's written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who we are

Solar Earth Australia (ABN 92 133 836 905) designs and installs solar battery systems across Sydney and greater New South Wales. We handle your information ourselves. It isn't passed to a lead-generation company or a call centre, because we don't use either.

We're bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

When you complete the site checklist, you give us:

• Contact details. Your name, phone number and email address.
• Property details. Your address, property and roof type, storeys, and where a battery might go.
• Electrical details. Existing solar, inverter brand, switchboard condition, whether you're single or three phase.
• Energy details. Your retailer, approximate quarterly bill, when you use power, and what appliances you run.
• The estimate you were shown. The system size, price and payback figures on screen when you submitted, so we can see what you were quoting from.

You can skip any question you don't know or would rather not answer. Only your name, phone, email and address are required, because we can't quote a job without knowing where it is or how to reach you.

If you email or text us photos of your meter box or switchboard, we hold those the same way as everything else here.

Why we collect it

To prepare and discuss your quote, to check whether you qualify for the federal battery rebate, to design a system that fits your property, and to carry out the installation and any warranty work afterwards. That's the whole list.

We don't sell your details, and we don't share them with other installers. If you enquire and don't proceed, we don't pass you on to anybody else.

Marketing

Ticking the consent box on the checklist means we can contact you about that enquiry. It is not a subscription to anything. If we ever want to send you general marketing, we'll ask separately, and you'll be able to opt out of it at any time.

Who else sees it

We share your information only where we have to:

• Our form provider, which delivers checklist submissions to our inbox.
• The Clean Energy Regulator and accredited certificate agents, where required to create the small-scale technology certificates that fund your rebate.
• Your electricity distributor and retailer, for the connection approval a battery install requires.
• Our accountant and insurer, where a job needs it.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that's the case we take reasonable steps to make sure the information stays protected.

Analytics and advertising

We use website analytics to understand how people find and use this page: which pages get visited, roughly where visitors are, and which advertisements led them here. This is collected in aggregate and isn't used to identify you personally.

If you'd rather not be measured, most browsers let you block cookies, and browser-level "do not track" and ad-blocking extensions work on this site as they do anywhere else.

How long we keep it

If you become a customer, we keep your records for at least seven years. Tax law and electrical compliance both require it, and your warranty runs for ten. If you enquire and don't proceed, we keep the enquiry for two years in case you come back, then delete it.

Getting a copy, or getting it deleted

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email solarearthaustralia@gmail.com or call 0407 892 204 and we'll sort it out within 30 days.

There are records we can't delete on request. Completed installations carry legal retention obligations. We'll tell you plainly if that applies.

If you're not happy

Tell us first and we'll try to fix it. If you're still not satisfied, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
